BYT Style Council Member Elettra Wiedemann

Elettra Wiedemann was born and raised in New York City. Her mother is international model and actress, Isabella Rossellini. Elettra’s father, John Wiedemann, who once modeled as well, now works for Microsoft. Elettra attended school in Boston, at the United Nations International High School and is the oldest of two brothers and one sister.

When Elettra was 15, she met her mother’s manager, who suggested that she give modeling a try. For a girl who confesses “ I barely even wore make-up before my first photo shoot”, she was a natural in front of the camera. Elettra’s first booking was for German Vogue, and has since appeared on the covers and inside pages of top fashion magazines including American Vogue, Teen Vogue, Glamour, Ten, Harper’s Bazaar, French and Italian Elle, Grazia, Italian Vanity Fair, Italian GQ, and Another Magazine.

In 2006, Elettra was named the face of Lancome, representing the global brand in print advertisements for skincare. Given her strong passion for animal rights and the environment, she has proposed a “carbon free” program, asking Lancome to sponsor her air travel through Carbonfund.org, an international nonprofit organization seeking to reduce the threat of climate change by supporting renewable energy and reforestation projects. Elettra has also founded a charity with her boyfriend, James Marshall, called Just One Frickin Day, which works to concentrate natural resources and is currently installing solar electric panels in Burundi. Fluent in English, Italian, and French, Elettra says that traveling is the best part of her job. At NYC’s The New School, Elettra studied environmental issues, politics, history and economics. She is currently studying at the London School of Economics. In her spare time, Elettra enjoys keeping her body active by playing sports and doing yoga.
