BRIGHT YOUNG THING Lily Saporta-Tagiuri

I met Lily Saporta-Tagiuri in the 4th grade. Back then she had a head full of braids and bracelets up to her elbow- she has always stuck out against the crowd as a girl with her own style.  Today she pulls together brilliant outfits of rich fabrics, vibrant colors, funky prints and delicate details that inspire those around her to play with their own wardrobes in new ways. We look forward to following her wear-a-thon this summer!

WHERE ARE YOU FROM AND HOW HAS THIS INFLUENCED YOUR STYLE? Cambridge MA.  Cambridge is an especially eclectic place with a large international influence.  I was exposed to a range of styles and encouraged to experiment and challenge what was accepted as main stream.  As a result my look incorporates second hand items which I have altered to add a personal flair.

WHAT’S YOUR TYPICAL GETTING-DRESSED-IN-THE-MORNING ROUTINE? First I think about what my daily adventure might be and try to pick items that play off elements of my environment.  This often involves a quick adjustment whether I am cutting a pair of pants into shorts or sewing a new color onto a dress.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE LAYERING PIECES AND ACCESSORIES AND WHERE DID YOU FIND THEM? The only item that remains constant day to day is my gold house key that I wear around my neck…and I can’t ever pick favorites!

WHAT IS THE WILDEST THING IN YOUR CLOSET? My closet is like a circus and every animal is wild. But a particularly notable piece is my pair of knee high Adidas Sneakers.

HOW DO YOU PLAN ON SPENDING THIS SUMMER? Picnicking in parks around the city. Working on at the Urban Landscape Lab on project called Safari 7…Check it out! And hopefully keeping cool.

DO YOU HAVE ANY SPECIAL PLANS FOR YOUR WEAR-A-THON THAT WE SHOULD KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR? Living in the moment.

HOW LONG IS YOUR WEAR-A-THON GOING TO BE? 31 days
