Big BRIGHT Bambu! Have you been on the roof of the Met lately? The semi-recent Big Bambu Exhibit by the Starn twins interlocks over 3200 piece of bamboo with nylon rope. You can check out our lovely ZoĆ«’s take on it here. It was such a relief coming up out of the Met; security was strict enough to make me check my bike helmet (even though I insisted I would wear the thing throughout the museum to avoid that) and throw out my favorite mason jar (it hurt).
I wandered around on the roof until they kicked us out when it closed. Going up to the roof was one huuuge breath of NYC air. I touched the bamboo as much as I could, partly to spite security, but mostly because I couldn’t resist. If you pay for a guided tour you can even walk up through the exhibit and climb up the bamboo. I dressed to match the exhibit today! My mini-shift dress had always reminded me of bamboo… wish I could remember where I got it. I have the LBD on over it, folded over with an elastic belt from my local Salvation army. My hat is from Cannon Hill and the purse is from Venus on the Half Shell, both in Frederick. Gotta love mustard yellow!
