Kristin Arzt, Day 33
PHOTOGRAPHER Elisabeth Arzt
Just got my butt back on the farm, and it feels good. I missed my oversized pups and air conditioning! It’s natural to default to cutoffs whenever I’m here, so I’m wearing my freshly-cut-from-tacky-90′s-jeans Levi’s! My goal of this weekend is to break them in, which shouldn’t be a problem. Next to me is Wallace, and around my shoulders is the LBD, worn as a shawl. This way I can show off my shirt but also get some shoulder coverage.
I’m also wearing a shirt I made last spring for my college’s fashion show. I constructed it from vintage fabrics, ribbon and crochet. In my hand is a hawk wing that I found in our field last summer, along with a pair of its talons. Stuck ‘em in some corn meal for about a month and BAM! A badass fan/hat/maybe I’ll make it a clutch later? (Unfortunately Wallace ate the talons.)
I guess this whole post is sub-consciously bird themed. I made the back of this shirt from a cowboy necktie I found a the West Virginia Flea Market. (You can see more of my creations from that fashion show here.) On my shoulder there is Edgar, a tattoo designed by Elisabeth- the lovely sister photographer of today. Edgar’s body is a thimble and he’s got his beak around some measuring tape, and holds a needle and thread in his talons. Gotta love having talented family and giant mischievous pups around. I’m off to climb some trees…!
