A Day at the Renegade Craft Fair
Last weekend, some of the Bright Young Things street team waltzed around the Renegade Craft Fair at McCarren Park in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The day was hot and sticky, but in the shade of the tents, the pickings were excellent. Here are a few of our favorite finds:
We really liked the Lilian Asterfield vintage neck tie art-collar-necklaces. Nicole Deponte’s take on the office staple turns the starchy into something whimsical. They’re like sculptures for your neck.
Bright Young Thing Lauren Gautier took a liking to this one.
Up in the Air Somewhere makes beautiful, delicate vases out of paper that is coated with rubberized paint, so that you could actually put water in them for flowers. Some are even gold-leafed.
Les Enfants Sauvages made these adorable hair bows. Eliza could not help but try them.
Under one tend was the most amazing hand made toys, all looking like they came from another time. You really can’t beat pastoral-fabric doll tattoos.
Clearly, she has a fetish for hats! Eliza kept putting everything on her head. Here she saw some great big paper carnations–not for sale, mind you, they were purely decorative–and instantly decided they’d make a fabulous hat. She was right.
A theme emerged! Shortly thereafter, Bright Young Thing Amy Fox showed her up with an actual vintage flower hat she scored at the fair, made of fabulously bright silk chiffon.
