On a sunny Sunday in May, in a modern, elegantly furnished brownstone in New York City’s Harlem, the Summer 2010 Bright Young Things photo shoot began.

After ten minutes at the shoot, the intimidation of entering the fashion world wore off over breakfast. BYT is not your typical fashion statement – these beauties eat bagels. And style is a conscious cause.

The room quickly filled with a collection of bright and elegant jewelry, chic hats, stylish shoes, and fabulous feather head-dresses.

Styled with the items from the girls’ closets, and with vintage borrowed from Cobblestones, NY and Treehouse, Brooklyn, the girls were photographed by Stas Komarovski- who also happens to be Designer Eliza’s friendly neighbor.
The seven models, Rita, Katherine, Elizabeth, Ginny, Lauren, Zoe and myself, are six young women who Designer Eliza Starbuck met on the streets of NYC and who are part of the BYT street team. As the models began to trickle into the hair and makeup room, each brought her own style to the table- quite literally.
